 猫は唯物主義だと云われている。

It can be said that cats are materialistic. If you follow this theory, even more than cats belonging to their owners, in most cases it only appears that they belong to their owners. When their human owners change residence, cats will not be obedient and settle in to the new home, but will want to return to the old home.

There, they could see the running of cars and bicycles and such, and when they came to the vicinity of the train station, Masa pointed her finger and said,

"I can't see if it's Pess or not." said Shou, as he went running. Everyone continued after him.
However, even though the dog looked so much like Pess that it was almost as if it were his brother, as they could see, it wasn't Pess.
When they understood that the dog that Masa, Toku and everyone else had seen was in fact this dog, everyone returned to the road.

It wasn't just Tatsu on his own. Everyone listened to Masa's words and thought they were true.
It was normal that if Pess knew he had been being taken to the dog killer whilst scared, to say he would not allow himself to be adopted seemed somewhat heartless somehow.
If inside Pess' heart he thought that someone would certainly come and adopt him, and then finally he understood that no-one would come, he probably came running out madly from a fear of death. In everyone's hearts, they were regretting their own heartlessness. It was now almost certain that he wouldn't trust human beings. That was as Masa had said, they thought.
Well, even if that was the case, he still often ran away and came back. He was like that.” said older sister, in admiration.
