ペスをさがしに - (Part 9)


ペスをさがしに
(Part 9)

「生きたい、一念で、逃げ出してきたのでしょう。」と、お母さんも、おっしゃいました。
「ワン、ワン、ほえたり、かみついたりしたんだろうな。」と、正ちゃんが、いうと、
「ばか、そんなことをすれば、すぐなぐり殺されてしまうじゃないか。」と、達ちゃんがいいました。
「そんなら、どうして、逃げてきたんだい。」と、正ちゃんが、ききました。
「すきを見て、いっしょうけんめいに逃げてきたんだろう。」と達ちゃんがいいました。
 その夜は、ペスが帰ってきたことにして、みんなは、いろいろ話をしましたが、夜が、明けたら、それを、たしかめようと、達ちゃんと、正ちゃんとは、めいめい胸に思って、やがて、床の中に入ったのであります。寒い晩で、木枯らしの音がきこえていました。

"He wanted to live, so probably came running, determindley." Mother said.
"He probably barked with a woof woof, snarling and such." as Shou said that, Tatsu then said,
"Fool, if he had done that then he probably would have gotten beaten to death quite quickly."
"If that's the case, then why did he come running then?" asked Shou.
"He probably saw someone with a spade and came running as hard as he could." said Tatsu.
That evening, everyone had spoken a lot about the fact that Pess had come back, but once evening became dawn, individually thinking from their own hearts, Tatsu and Shou would confirm it, but soon enough they had ended up inside their bedding. It being a cold evening, they could hear the sound of the wintry wind.

とこ 1: bed; bedding; 2: sickbed; 3: (Abbreviation) alcove; 4: riverbed; 5: seedbed; 6: straw "core" of a tatami mat; 7: floor
