猫 - (Part 4)

平気で物を食い、泰然と居眠る。図々しい呑気な闖入者だ。私たちはその家にもう五六年住んでいたし、猫は生後一年とはたたない若さだったの で、猫が、私たちには勿論、家にも馴染がなかったのは明かである。

She would bite things with composure and calmly snooze about. She was a shameless and reckless intruder. As we had already lived in that house for five or six years, and as the cat had the youth of having not yet lived for the duration of a year, naturally to us in our house which had no intimacy the cat was a brightness.
